A Weird Quest
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
Introduction
A little girl lost her soul in a dark and dangerous world, and the Detective decided to save her.
Play as the Detective, solve puzzles, unveil secrets, and defeat the Devil. The puzzles in this game will be kinda difficult to some extent (99% of those players who did an alpha test said they got stuck at the loading level) and you may pull your hair at some point, the thinking outside the box may help you find the answer.
Attention
This game also contains some elements that might be terrifying, so I added a horror tag to this game. If you don't like this art style and give up, I totally understand.
I worked alone in this game, so this game could have some bugs that I haven't discovered. If you guys find any, just leave a comment below or send an email to me at here. I will try my best to fix it.
There's a quick way to maintain your current savefile in new versions:
- For Windows: Go to .../A Weird Quest [old version number]/A Weird Quest_Data, copy AtadResu and paste it into .../A Weird Quest [new version number]/A Weird Quest_Data, after you do that, the files will look like the image below.
- For Mac: Go to .../A Weird Quest [old version number]/Content, copy AtadResu and paste it into .../A Weird Quest [new version number]/Content, after you do that, the files will look like the image below.
Achievements
In this game, the gameplay is simple, the storyline is common, the art style is retro, but to collect the full list of achievements requires logical thinking, trail, and sometimes creativity.
I've uploaded a player's guide of this game. May all your confusions get answered after reading.
I challenged the players before November 25th, 2018 that whoever unlocked all achievements will have the chance to do a beta test and play my next game one week earlier than others. Well even though the deadline of that challenge has passed, this offer is still valid. If you are interested in playing a 3D adventure game, you can send me an email here.
Known Issues
1. Until I find a solution and upload a new version (the latest version is v1.1122), it's better not to press the keys on the keyboard too fast in this level ↓↓↓↓ because you may not get through the puzzle. This bug was found by @Coconut Mousse.

This was definetly a weird quest i have to say. The pixelated art was nice.
Puzzles how ever did not make any sense to me, and imo the last part could be a bit easier, or at least 2 hit death.
But other than that no complaints, good job :)
Thank you GameGabe. The puzzles are designed to be something weird and challenging, but my design skill till need improvement. Hope my next game can get better!
As for the last level, well actually there is a weapon which can decrease 50% of the demon's health value, but you need to find a hidden place in The Dark Cave to get it. And there is also a cheat mod in the last part, where the Detective won't get hurt therefore won't get killed at all. These are the secrets in this game. You can play this game again to find them if you like, or you can check the player's guide which will be uploaded today.
No probs, i enjoyed playing it, maybe i was a bit cranky cos of the cold at the time of recording.
I do think your next game will be better, the more you make the better you are imo :)
hello! im on mac and when i get to the beginning i can't seem to start any levels? all of them are locked, including the one i see everyone else select with no problem, am i missing a puzzle??
I personally don't have a mac so I'm gonna fix this problem on my friend's computer. Might take a while... But I'll let you know if I update a new version. Meanwhile, you could start this game again to see if it works this time. It may be some kind of delay of writing the savefile that cause this problem.

Heyyyyyy kiwisweet I just uploaded a new mac version of this game. My friend finally ended her exams so the game was exported today. Hopefully you won't run into that bug again in the update. Enjoy!
i love these type of puzzle games which dont have straightforward puzzles, even if i struggle in solving them :D really good game

Hey gamernhamnhi, what version did you download? I've downloaded the Windows version and it runs as fine. I'm using Windows 8.1.
Edit: I've asked my friend who has a MacOS to download the Mac version from this page, she said everything was fine on her computer. So I suggest you upload an image here, I'll take a look and hopefully I can find the solution.
Unfortunately the puzzles weren't really THAT difficult to predict, I was expecting genuinely hard and 'outside of the box' thinking being required D: Outside of that, a fun short game though, Part 2 and all achievements in the next video.
Thank you for playing the game, Neco The Sergal! Sorry about the unexpected difficulty. In the alpha test, about half of the players said this game was difficult while others thought the opposite. So maybe it's better to say this game is kinda difficult for some players?
But anyway it's amazing that you're going to get full achievements! Good job!
Nothing to apologize over, the more experience you get in puzzles and similar games then the more advanced you can do these things, I'm just familiar with head-scratching methods to 'get all deaths or all something', like in my video series I had referenced 'Don't Chat with Strangers', to beat it was a head scratcher, and especially to get all deaths too as an example.
i dont know if this is a bug or not, i cant click "E" in tree puzzle but i did in last try and got 70%. i really understand that puzzle how to get all closed eye or red eye and maybe to get some of those blue gems :D
i do cheat, i watch aza466 playthrough about the key and stuck at loading point in gamingwithbliss comment. everything else is completed by myself
PS: its a spoiler if you want to finished by your selfWell, I assume it's a bug. I think it was triggered because you pressed the keys on the keyboard too fast, so the state related to the puzzle hasn't changed to the correct one. I will upload a new version of this game if I find any solution to fix that. But right now I have no idea, I'll add a warning instead.

Home level should be unlocked whenever you play this game and the next level button should function well, but I've only tested it with Windows 7 & 8 platform, and I'm not sure about the Mac version... So maybe you could download this game again and see if it works this time.

Wait... No Sound? I've downloaded the Windows version from this page to verify, but everything seems the fine in my computer. The operating system of my computer is Windows 8.1 so I'm not sure what's really wrong. I'm so sorry that this game couldn't run well on your computer.

Believe it or not, The Last Door IS exactly what inspires me to create something with pixel-art style. I played The Last Door Season 1 & 2 this year and I really loved their storyline. And I'm also a big fan of H.P. Lovecraft!!!

Hey Jingyi, I really would like to play your game and make a video but I have had a few issues. The issue I am having is that the load screen just counts back from 100% and then goes to 0% with nothing happening.
